Just to check I could still log stuff to Strava, that the bike was still in good nick, and to get out of the house!

  Under advice to get miles in the bank early, and with a days work to do today, I set off in the cold and the dark at around 0520. I'd gone to bed early last night, but woke a few times, excited about getting started. Well lit by an assortment of LEDs, with extra layers to keep me warm, and NADDpod in the headphones to keep me entertained, I set off on my merry way... One issue I had with a new light I'd not tried on the road bike was that it didn't fit on the handlebars... it could attach to the drops, meaning I'd not be able to get out of the big-ring, and would have to be very careful braking. Just about okay, and I'm sure I can make more lights fit on the front. Heading North, I tried to join the Fosse, but was prevented from progressing by a flooded road. Festive 50-67

In the middle of Christmas Eve, a working day, I did my usual "out and back to Ryton", which is flat and straight, just the way I like it! Weather was good, and I was feeling maybe a little too frisky as I definitely felt sore in the legs the following day. The thinking was I'd have Xmas day to recover, so could probably let myself off the leash a little. It was a really enjoyable ride though, as this cheeky little number usually is!

Signed Up...

  So at this stage, there's not much to say - I figured with this year being a pared back Christmas, it'd be the year to give it a go. We're on "LockDean" which is basically Lockdown with more wine and less whinging. We've got Lu's folks coming over on Christmas day, and our Bubble family the following day for some unknown period of time, but the usual comings and goings are no longer there. The kids are at a stage where they're much less effort, so I figured this year, I'd give it a shot. I'll do my best to log the experience, and of course all the numbers will be over at strava!  Weather forecast for the moment looks coldish, but at least no rain! Windspeed nudging into double digits might be problematic, but should be okay. My bike (Ribble Carbon 872) describes itself as "Aero". My torso, which describes itself as "more designed for kickboxing than cycling" has generally been welcomed by bike mates for it's protective
